As the nice weather moves in, you might be looking to move outside for your meal. If that’s the case, you may want to snag a seat on the large outdoor deck at Habaneros Mexican Cantina Restaurant in Pawleys Island. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

Habaneros Mexican Cantina Restaurant is located on Oceans Highway in Pawleys Island. Its family-friendly atmosphere is welcoming to both regulars and newcomers. Habaneros is very family-oriented. If you have children in toe, you feel very comfortable dining here.

There’s an indoor dining area with tables and Mexican decor. The bar inside seats about a dozen people, and there are a few TVs (often showing soccer games.) Many people prefer a table outside on the tiki deck that faces Ocean Highway. There’s a bar out there, too. Part of the patio is covered to protect you from the sun or sprinkles. In front of the outdoor deck there’s a large yard where kids can play on the grass and kick around a soccer ball.

The establishment serves authentic Mexican food. Menu items include burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesidillas and more. You can also enjoy tasty margaritas.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Drink deals include $3.99 margaritas, $2 domestic beers, $2.75 import beers and $3 house liquors.

TIPS

▪ Try the other Habaneros location at St. James Plaza on S.C. 707 in Murrells Inlet.
