Coastal Carolina football to play San José State in the Hawai’i Bowl. Here are the details

Coastal Carolina is heading to Hawai’i for its first bowl game of the Tim Beck era.

CCU will match up with San José State in the Easypost Hawai’i Bowl, according to a press release from the event. The game will take the Saturday before Christmas in Honolulu. CCU went 7-5 on the season, going 5-2 in their final seven games. The San José State Spartans are also 7-5, after winning their last six consecutive games.

The announcement comes after a tough week for the Chants. CCU lost several players to the transfer portal, including quarterback Grayson McCall, backup quarterback Jarrett Guest, running back CJ Beasley, linebacker JT Killen and many more.

McCall, who enters the portal for the second time in his career, had not played a down of football since being concussed and knocked unconscious against Arkansas State. CCU’s first NIL Collective also announced that it was ceasing operations after two years in business Wednesday, Nov. 29.
