Letter | This snowbird would welcome you up north even if you don’t want us in Myrtle Beach

Re: March 19 letter to the editor, “ We didn’t ask ‘y'all’ snowbirds to come south,” by Dorothy Deitz.

I apologize for not asking your permission to visit the beautiful State of South Carolina and the Myrtle Beach Area.

My wife and I have been enjoying Myrtle Beach as “Snowbirds” for 15 years and are so sorry for offending you by visiting here.

We have met many extremely nice and gracious people, and have actually become members of the wonderful Surfside United Methodist Church.

I am thinking, before you alienate us “terrible Northerners,” you might talk to your Realtors, hotels, restaurants, recreational facilities, grocers, retail shopping facilities, medical providers, car dealerships and anyone else who depends on us to boost the local economy.

And if they agree with you that we should not cross the border into your state, then, my dear, you may well go back to pickin’ cotton and harvesting rice besides the snakes, alligators and mosquitoes.

We welcome you to visit our gorgeous Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with its variety of beautiful mountains, farmlands, rivers, lakes, and many historic sites.

But, please, leave your attitude at home.

The writer is a snowbird from Pennsylvania.
