Motorists not honoring Ocean Blvd. crosswalks
Are the crosswalk signs on Ocean Blvd new? It seems like it. In the last four days of being in your great city, I have been nearly hit every time while crossing the street.
It started to become a joke with my family to see if anyone would stop. Drivers would only stop if I literally stood in the crosswalk with my hand up like a crossing guard. Send down a reporter to any crosswalk on Ocean to see what I’m talking about, but make sure that have their life insurance policy up to date.
It’s a deadly activity crossing the street in a marked crosswalk in Myrtle Beach.

Volunteers, donors aided literacy effort
The Horry County Literacy Council ‘Mystery Dinner” was a success. Thank you to the volunteers, the actors, the Sea Mist Resort and all of the people/businesses that donated fantastic items for the Chinese auction.
Because of your support, many individuals will be learning how to read. What a great gift.

Freedom
Discrimination illegal in secular country
The entire “religious freedom” issue seems to be blown out of proportion, the solution is pretty basic.
This is America, a secular country where discrimination is against the law. Anyone is free to open a business so long as it is legal. If your religion does not permit you to serve all customers, then you are free to not open a business in America.

Where are those golf deals for locals?
Re: March 25 letter from Paul Paquette, “Bad business to end golf season in Myrtle Beach for snowbirds in the middle of March”
I have just one question for Paul Paquette. Where can I find these golf courses he mentions in his letter that offer considerable discounts to locals?
I am a local and would like to play more golf but can’t afford it.

Taxes
Use road money for needed repairs
S.C. 31 is being extended. Forestbrook Road and Glenns Bay Road are both being widened. U.S. 17 just got a billion dollar overpass at S.C. 707 and a new one planned for Glenns Bay.
Yet we are told that potholes won’t get filled unless taxes are increased. When the taxes get raised, the tax-and-spend lobbyists find projects for new roads and the potholes remain to justify even more new taxes. Stop the vicious tax-and-spend cycle and spend our money wisely; these taxes never go away.
