Wages remain far too low for far too many
Re “A ‘living wage’ is available in trade work - now” letter by Ellie Kloes.
In answer to Kloes, I was not referring to trade people, where our government is out of step with industry for not investing in vocational schools at the high school level. The people I was referring to are the hundreds of service workers in this area who haven't seen a raise in wages since the 2008 financial crash, although prices and profits have skyrocketed, causing these people to have two or three jobs and two or three roommates to cover expenses.
This can be done when workers are young, but where will they be as they age without benefits or pensions?
Again, shame on our out of touch politicians who allow undocumented workers to take these jobs.
