Myrtle Beach city manager’s raise smells fishy

I am confused. The Social Security Administration recently announced that we seniors on Social Security will get a whopping 0.3% cost of living increase in 2017.

I recently saw an article in The Sun News that Myrtle Beach City Council announced that the city manager, John Pedersen, will get a 3 percent COLA increase - after just two years in his position.

So, it begs the question. Is the Cost of Living index used by the Social Security Administration bogus? Or is the Cost of Living index used by Myrtle Beach City Council bogus?
