Rain, rip currents, jellyfish are in the forecast for the Myrtle Beach area this weekend
While the temperature should be great for a beach weekend, everything else in the forecast outlook could put a damper on any plans.
Rain, rip currents and even jellyfish are included in the National Weather Service’s weekend forecast.
There should be moderate to strong rip currents this weekend on all Horry County beaches, forecasters warn.
There is also a concern of Man o’ War in the area, after numerous sightings on Grand Strand beaches over the last week. The venomous jellyfish can have tentacles up to 165 feet long.
Forecasters say there is a threat of rain from scattered afternoon thunderstorms, but no severe weather is expected. Parts of Horry County could see up to an inch of rain by Sunday.
The rainfall is not expected to have a significant impact on river flooding, according to the NWS.
Temperatures should reach the mid-80s during the weekend.
