Woman arrested after domestic disturbance led to shooting, SC sheriff says

A South Carolina woman was arrested following a weekend shooting, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Shannon Patrice Royal was charged with attempted murder, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex on S.C. 261 South, according to the release.

Deputies found the victim who was taken by EMS to Prisma Health Tuomey hospital, the sheriff’s office said. Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.

Royal was taken into custody and to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, according to the release. Her bond was denied, and she remains in custody, the sheriff’s office said.

The shooting followed a domestic dispute, according to the release. Information about what led to the dispute was not available.
