Golfer Dustin Johnson just threw shade at this SC university & Myrtle Beach
“The worst thing about Coastal was … we actually had to show up to class.”
Asked about his college experience in a new interview, professional golfer and Coastal Carolina University alumnus Dustin Johnson got shady with his answers.
The 23-time PGA Tour winner was a recent guest on Sundae Conversation, an interview show with host Caleb Pressley. The comedic interview touched on Johnson’s marriage to Paulina Gretzky, his love of fishing and his time at Coastal Carolina University.
“For people who don’t understand Coastal Carolina, what grade of high school is that equal to?” Pressley prompted.
Laughing, Johnson said the university is academically equivalent to a junior year in high school. He continued, saying “obviously, it wasn’t difficult,” but he did have to attend classes.
“They have class at Coastal Carolina?” Pressley countered.
Although the university is technically located in Conway, Pressley also asked Johnson to “explain” Myrtle Beach.
“It was a mixture of sand and dirt, the beach,” Johnson said.
The interview clip has garnered nearly 1 million views, more than 65,000 views and more than 350 comments in one day on TikTok. Commenters joined in on the fun, piling on both Myrtle Beach and Coastal Carolina University.
“Coastal Carolina. If Bud Light Lime was a school,” the top comment said. Another popular comment took aim at Myrtle Beach, calling the city, “God‘s blind spot.”
The Sun News reached out to Coastal Carolina University for comment.
