Two winning lottery tickets sold at same store in a small SC town. Check your pockets
Not one, but two $100,000 winning lottery tickets were sold at the same small town convenience store in the Midlands area, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The winning Palmetto Cash 5 tickets were purchased in Santee, lottery officials said in a news release. Santee has a population of about 880 people, according to the World Population Review.
The winning numbers — 7, 11, 15, 19, 32, and Power-Up: 3 — were drawn Tuesday.
The winning tickets were sold at the 112 Santee gas station/convenience store at 1063 Manning Road. That’s in Orangeburg County near Exit 93 on Interstate 95, which is the junction with U.S. 15.
The ticket buyers did not get the Powered-Up option, which could have tripled the prizes to $300,000, according to the release.
The winners have 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.
The winners will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 501,942-to-1, according to the release.
“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.
112 Santee will receive a commission of $2,000 for selling the winning tickets when they are turned into lottery officials.
In addition to the six-figure jackpot, lottery officials said more than 6,100 ticket holders won prizes — ranging from $1 to $100,000 — following the Palmetto Cash 5 drawing.
