A 27-year-old man shot and killed his uncle during an argument stemming from a broken TV the uncle had given him, Florida authorities said.

Oneal Robert Matthew Thompson was booked in jail July 5 and is facing a homicide charge, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

The uncle, who hasn’t been identified by the sheriff’s office, gave Thompson a television, but Thompson got mad because it wasn’t working, investigators said.

During the ensuing argument, the uncle threatened to take back the TV, and the confrontation turned physical, according to the sheriff’s office.

Then Thompson is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting his uncle.

The nephew fled, but deputies found him not far from the home, still armed with the pistol, and he was arrested without incident, according to investigators.

The uncle died of his injuries at a hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

Escambia County is the northwesternmost county in the Florida Panhandle.
