Car hits and kills 9-year-old riding bikes with 10-year-old boy, Ohio cops say
Two boys riding bikes in the street made a change of direction that killed one and severely injured the other, Ohio police said.
The driver of a Jeep SUV attempted to move around the 9-year-old and 10-year-old boys, Elyria police said, but the children started to go a different way.
The boys collided with the Jeep in a “tragic” accident that caused life-threatening injuries, police said in an Oct 12 Facebook post. The 9-year-old died of his injuries at the scene, according to officials.
The 10-year-old was taken to a hospital in Elyria and then airlifted to UH Rainbows and Babies Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, according to officials.
The driver was not injured, police said. No charges have been filed.
Family members identified the child killed as Bryant Tide Bartlett, according to WEWS.
Elyria is about a 30-mile drive southwest from Cleveland.
