A little bundle of fur is proving that she’s more than just a cute face at a shelter in Ohio — she has the heart and resilience of a lioness.

When Starlight was brought into the shelter, she had a major issue that was life-threatening.

“Starlight is a 14-week-old tabby kitten with a heart full of courage,” the Jefferson County Humane Society and Jefferson County Animal Shelter in Wintersville said in a Sept. 19 Facebook post. “Despite the odds, this little fighter came into our care with severely infected eyes, and to save her life, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to remove them.”

Becoming blind wouldn’t hold the kitten back, however, and the shelter was happy to see Starlight’s personality shine through.

“But Starlight’s spirit remains unbroken,” the shelter said. “She gets around beautifully, her little head always lifted high, listening to the world around her. She might bump into a few walls and windows, but that doesn’t stop her from being her playful, adventurous self.”

Starlight gets along with both dogs and other cats.

“She’s small in size, but her resilience and love will fill any home with light,” the shelter said.

For more information on Starlight or other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.

Wintersville is about a 140-mile drive northeast from Columbus.
