A puppy in Texas is in need of a home after managing to live through a particularly harsh Lone Star summer.

Ritz happened to be born in a tough situation: under a shed in Lubbock during a heatwave when the temperature reached the 90s.

“Warning: Cuteness overload!” the South Plains SPCA said in a Sept. 18 Facebook post.

“Meet Ritz of the Shed Puppies. This sweet baby was born under a shed approximately June 24, 2024 where she somehow survived the Lubbock heatwave and infestation of fleas.

“It took the foster a few days, cuts, scrapes, ant bites, and dog nips but she finally got Ritz and her siblings. She is doing great and looking for her forever home.”

Ritz is your typical puppy with boundless energy and has kisses to give.

“Ritz is full of love and will be a fantastic addition to any family. She is young and will need love and patience as she is taught house manners, basic commands and of course will need lots of toys and chew bones,” the post said.

Unfortunately, only residents of Lubbock County qualify for adoption.

For more information on Ritz or other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.

Lubbock is about a 315-mile drive northwest from Fort Worth.
