Roads flooded in Myrtle Beach area after Sunday’s storm. Here’s how to check for closures
Learn how to check for road closures in Horry County, as the area recovers from Sunday’s storm.
The low pressure system brought heavy rain, coastal flooding, high winds and at least one confirmed tornado to the Myrtle Beach area. Parts of the Myrtle Beach area received up to 8 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, according to estimates from the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Residents can check the Horry County Government and South Carolina Department of Transportation websites to see if roads on their route are impassible due to flooding or debris.
As of Monday morning, the Horry County Government reported 21 roads closed. This included parts of Myrtle Ridge Drive near 544 and Highway 701 North outside of Conway.
The Conway City Council issued an emergency declaration for Coastal Storm at an emergency meeting on Sunday afternoon.
Horry and Georgetown County Schools operated remotely on Monday.
