Motorists should be prepared to slow down while driving along Myrtle Ridge Drive and Burning Ridge Road as the speed limit will be lowered for construction work that begins Wednesday.

Construction will begin on roundabouts, which will require the traffic pattern to be changed on the busy roads that sit off of U.S. 501, Horry County spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said by text Tuesday.

In addition to construction, existing access around the back of CVS will be temporarily closed for utility and road work, Moskov said. Motorists will be directed to the newly-constructed Middle Ridge Avenue to access both Walmart and CVS during the closure.

Horry County officials have said that the traffic change may cause delays as others get used to the shift and are asking drivers to “exercise caution and patience while getting accustomed to the new pattern,” according to a Facebook post.

Officials said there will be updated signs and pavement markings.
