Horry County Schools students will take classes online Friday in anticipation of winter weather coming to the Myrtle Beach area, the district announced Wednesday afternoon.

Horry County could see a combination of rain, snow and sleet this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The school district will close all its buildings Friday, including the district office, according to its website.

Students will be responsible for logging into their online platforms — SeeSaw for grades K-2, Google Classroom for grades 3-12 — to get the necessary instructions.

All after-school activities and athletics are canceled Friday as well.
