Horry County police arrest 2 men after Fred Nash Blvd. shooting

Horry County police arrested two men after the two fired shots at a nightclub Thursday morning.

Shiron Thompson, 24, of Johnsonville, is charged with possession of a stolen pistol, possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful carry of a pistol and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Rico Waterman, 22, of Hemingway, is charged with unlawful carry of a pistol and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Officers responded to a fight in progress at the Island Grill — formely Fat Boiz — at 2965 Fred Nash Blvd. in Myrtle Beach, around 4 a.m. Thursday, according to a police report. When police arrived a white GMC Yukon was attempting to leave the scene, and a witness told police the car and its occupants were involved in the fight, the report said.

Police stopped the Yukon and detained Waterman and Thompson, who were inside the vehicle, the report said.

A witness told police there was a fight inside of the club and Thompson was removed. Thompson then went to the Yukon, pulled out a revolver and was followed by Waterman, who was carrying a semi-automatic handgun, the report said.

Both men started shooting at the building, but the building was not hit and no one was hurt, police said.

A second witness told police one of the suspects went to his car and said he was “going to shoot up the place,” the report said. The witness then heard about six shots and then another five shots, which were directed toward the responding police.

The witness said the suspect kept yelling obscenities at the officers, the report said.

Officers found both weapons laying in a ditch near where the Yukon was when police first arrived. Both firearms were entered into a database and the handgun – a Smith and Wesson – was reported stolen “from our agency,” the report said.
