Conway man allegedly hit woman with rubber mallet. He now faces murder charge

TNS

A Conway man is facing a murder charge after allegedly pushing a woman to the ground, causing her to strike her head, and then repeatedly hitting her with a rubber mallet.

Omar Shriffe McCleod, 47, was arrested by Conway Police for Sunday’s death of Shantavious Manner, 44.

The 44-year-old woman was found dead in her home Sunday in the 1400 block of 6th Avenue, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. McCleod’s address on the warrant is listed as the same as Manner’s.

Manner died from traumatic injuries, Willard said.

Conway Police are investigating Manner’s death as a homicide.

Manner’s mother posted on social media that her daughter died at the hands of her boyfriend in a domestic violence situation.

An arrest warrant said that McCleod slapped and pushed Manner to the ground, causing her to injure her head. He then hit her multiple times with a rubber mallet, the warrant said. The injuries to Manner by McCleod caused her death, the warrant said.

Conway Fire Department responded to the home at 7:40 a.m. for a medical call, according to a Conway Police Department Facebook post. When crews arrived, they determined the woman was deceased and requested assistance from the police department.

McCleod was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he remained Monday without bail.
