Three teenagers have been arrested following a shooting at a Myrtle Beach apartment complex where two people were wounded from gunshots.

Romeo Guy Elpers, 17, and Ian Conneil Monroe, 18, have both been charged with two counts of attempted murder after the shooting Sunday afternoon. Monroe was also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department is not releasing the name of the third individual because he’s a juvenile, department spokesperson Randolph Angotti said in an email to The Sun News.

The Myrtle Beach shooting

Myrtle Beach Police officers responded to a shooting incident just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to Sandygate Village Apartment, at 1011 Osceola St., according to the report. The department in a Facebook post that afternoon initially reported that there had been a “reported weapons discharge” at Osceola Street.

When officers arrived, no victims were located at the scene and no injuries were confirmed at the time, Angotti said.

Investigators later learned that two people had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds that were related to the shooting at Osceola Street. The three teenagers were then arrested after detectives identified them through witness interviews and video evidence, Angotti said.

Officers also found shell casings that “appeared to be from a rifle” and a phone at the scene, according to the report. It’s unclear what led to the shooting.

Elpers and Monroe remain at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on bonds of $200,000 and $350,000, respectively.
