The family of the 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed at a bar in Conway filed a lawsuit against the bar on Monday, claiming it could have done more to prevent the crime from happening.

Loris High School student Kaleb Brown was fatally shot at One N Done in April 2023. One other person in the shooting was also injured.

According to the complaint, Brown was allowed to enter the bar, located at 3505 Highway 544, with a group of friends. A fight then broke out inside the bar, and Brown exited into the parking lot, where “multiple shots were fired.”

Brown was transported to Seacoast Medical Center, where he died around midnight from a gunshot wound to the head.

The family is seeking punitive damages, claiming One N Done knew that previous “violent, criminal activity” had occurred at the bar. The Sun News previously reported that between 2020 and 2023, the bar received around 100 calls for police service. Among the list were calls for loud parties, suspicious activity, disturbances and nuisances.

A phone number for the bar could not be found.
