SC man fires into family’s car after road rage incident in Horry County, police say
A Hartsville man was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting at a vehicle with a family inside after a road rage incident in Aynor.
Anthony Nicholas Brigman, 46, was charged by Horry County Police with five counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime a little more than two weeks after he shot at a Dodge Dakota on Highway 501, according to a police report.
A man driving the Dodge Dakota was with his family traveling in Aynor on April 7 when he had to switch lanes to avoid hitting a person walking on the highway. Brigman, who was driving in the car behind the family, sped up and started riding the front car’s bumper, the report said.
The man driving the Dodge Dakota switched back to the other lane where Brigman continued to ride the car’s bumper. The driver in front said he saw Brigman pull out a handgun on the driver-side window and shoot at the Dodge Dakota, according to the report.
The bullet struck the back windshield of the Dodge Dakota, traveling past the driver’s head and into the front windshield. The driver pulled his car off onto Cook Road when he saw Brigman speed away further into Aynor. No injuries were reported.
A dashboard camera in the Dodge Dakota captured the incident, which the Horry County Police Department later used to identify Brigman’s license plate.
