Horry County students had skipped school before armed robbery at Publix, police say
Two Horry County students were charged with armed robbery after breaking into a vehicle at a Publix grocery store parking lot and robbing the owners when they returned to their vehicle.
The two students, one who is a juvenile, also face additional charges for planning to rob a home within the city, according to an arrest warrant. The two had apparently texted one another the night before about skipping school and planning to commit the robberies, the report said.
The name of the juvenile was not released.
Antwon Tewon Le’Flore Jr., 20, faces a slew of charges, including two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, breaking into a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal conspiracy. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on March 25, 2026.
Officers responded to an attempted burglary call at 7925 N. Kings Highway, where two people were allegedly robbed at gunpoint.
The victims told police they emerged from Publix to find their black Cadillac ransacked, according to an incident report. Two men allegedly approached the victims with guns, patted them down and stole $320 before running off.
Store cameras showed the men allegedly breaking into the vehicle around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.
After a search of the area, police arrested and detained one man. Heavy law enforcement presence remained in the area as authorities continued looking for the second suspect. The second man was taken into custody Tuesday evening, the Myrtle Beach Police Department announced on social media.
Video shows Le’Flore rummaging through the vehicle’s console, where he took candy, according to the warrant. He was identified after officers went to his school, Horry County Adult Education, where he had left his cellphone behind to appear that he was in school and prevent his mother from finding out he had left, the warrant said.
Le’Flore was also spotted 30 minutes before the Publix robbery on a private video breaking into another vehicle around 77th Avenue North, the warrant said.
The juvenile was with Le’Flore during the Publix robbery, where Le’Flore ordered the 16-year-old to pat down the female victim, the warrant said.
