A man wielding a machete and knife allegedly robbed two people Tuesday in the backyard of a Myrtle Beach home.

John Michael Capodilupo, 58, was charged by Myrtle Beach Police with two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Officers were called Wednesday to the area of Highway 15 and Boundary Street where two victims told police that Capodilupo brandished the weapons in the afternoon hours and demanded money from the female, an arrest warrant said. The female didn’t have any money, and the male, fearing the knife, threw all the money he had in his pocket toward the defendant in order to get him to leave, the warrant said. Capodilupo left with $15.

In an unrelated call, a victim said that Capodilupo used the knife and machete to prevent her from leaving a residence when she went to retrieve her belongings, the warrant said. Capodilupo told the victim that she was not allowed to leave as he blocked her exit, the warrant said.

Capodilupo was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he remained Friday without bond.
