Man arrested for Conway, SC shooting that left a 24-year-old dead

Conway Police arrested a Florence man for allegedly shooting and killing someone in Conway over the weekend.

Traeqwan Wilson, 31, allegedly shot V’ron Gibbs, 24, near Grainger Road and Marion Street at about 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, according to Conway police reports and the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Gibbs, of Conway, was brought to Grand Strand Medical Center where he died just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, said Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard in an email statement.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting. Police reports state the Conway Police Department received alerts and two calls about a shooting on Grainger Road Saturday night. There was no information about how or if Wilson knew Gibbs.

Conway Police arrested Wilson on Saturday for murder. He is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.

The Conway Police Department is investigating the death.
