CCU student shot to death in vehicle in Carolina Forest a year ago. Man has been arrested

More than a year after a 20-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle in Carolina Forest, Horry County Police have made an arrest in his death.

David Roldan-Dimas, of York County, was shot in his vehicle at 1049 Glenforest Road on June 19, 2023, near the Planet Fitness, a police report said. He was shot multiple times. Police attempted to do CPR, but Roldan-Dimas died at the scene from his injuries.

Branden Huertas, 43, was charged with murder in Roldan-Dimas’ death on Nov. 21, 2024.

Details of Huertas’ arrest were unavailable and an arrest warrant has been requested.

Roldan-Dimas was inside a black Chevy Camaro which collided with a parked white Nissan, according to an incident report.

A junior studying business administration at at Coastal Carolina University, Roldan-Dimas was taking classes that summer. He was expected to graduate in 2025.
