Man arrested in Florida accused of killing woman in Horry County, police say
A man arrested in Florida will be extradited to Horry County, where he faces criminal charges related to killing a woman, according to local police.
Colby Kopacz, 29, was arrested Saturday in Pensacola, Florida and faces a murder charge, according to Horry County police spokesperson Mikayla Moskov.
He is being held without bond at Escambia County Detention Center in Florida awaiting extradition to Horry County, where he will be formally charged with murder, Moskov said.
Colby Kopacz was arrested by the Pensacola Police Department in Florida, Moskov said. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office assisted with his location and arrest.
Amy Kopacz, 55, died Saturday in her Little River home due to injuries she sustained in an assault, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.
About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, an Horry County police sergeant responded to a report of a suspicious death at a home on Little River Inn Lane, according to a police report.
Police located Amy Kopacz dead inside the home, according to the incident report. The police report is heavily redacted and contains no other information about what police found in the home.
