One person arrested in Florida in connection to weekend homicide in Horry County
A man has been taken into custody in Florida after an Horry County woman was killed over the weekend, police said.
Amy Kopacz, 55, died Saturday in her Little River home due to injuries she sustained in an assault, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.
The Horry County Police Department is investigating Kopacz’s death as a homicide.
Horry County police spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said that Colby Kopacz was arrested in Florida in connection to the homicide. Moskov did not say in which city the arrest was made.
Moskov said that no charges have been filed nor warrants served. The investigation is ongoing, she said.
An incident report included in Moskov’s email shows that about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, an Horry County police sergeant responded to a report of a suspicious death at a home on Little River Inn Lane.
Police located Amy Kopacz dead inside the home, according to the incident report. The police report is heavily redacted and contains no other information about what police found in the home.
