Several charged in connection to fatal Conway area shooting
Several people are facing charges in connection to the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old in Conway earlier this month.
Jamie Johnson, 19, was found shot dead near Rose Moss Street and D Street around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.
Investigators say Johnson was in a car and was approached by another vehicle. Several suspect got out of the car and shot at Johnson’s car. He was the only person injured in the shooting.
Johnson was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Horry County police announced on Wednesday that officers charged against five new people in connection the case. Police previously charged Shamontae Raqwan Graham, aka “Ray Ray,” with murder, three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection to the shooting. The new people facing charges are:
- Tronahz Jahmarius Whittington, 17, of Conway, was charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
- Don Leequin Brown, 17, of Conway, was charged with murder and three counts of attempted murder.
- Che Ransom, 18, of Conway, was charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapons during a violent crime.
- Two juveniles were also charged, and their names were not released. There is a potential they could face their charges as adults.
The adults are all being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond, as only a circuit court judge can set bail on murder charges. They all face life in prison if convicted.
