Victim in Conway-area shooting ID’ed, Horry County investigators call the death a murder

A 19-year-old died in a Saturday shooting in the Conway area, a death that police are investigating as a homicide.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jaime Johnson, of Conway. His name was released on Monday.

Horry County police responded to Rose Moss Road and D Street around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the reported shooting. The area is off U.S. 501 north of Conway.

One person suffered a gunshot wound, according to police radio traffic. Officers say the victim was taken to the hospital.

Horry County police spokeswoman Mikayla Moskov said the death is being investigated as a murder. Detectives have not released any information or descriptions of the possible suspects.
