Myrtle Beach police investigating after shots fired near park, apartment complex

Myrtle Beach police are investigating after several shots were fired near a park and apartment complex earlier this week.

Officers went to Futrell Park off Mr. Joe White Avenue for a reported shooting on Tuesday around 10 p.m., according to a police report.

When officers arrived, a witness said he heard about six shots that came from the King Street area.

Officers reviewed security footage and saw a man shooting at another man outside the nearby Carver Street Apartments on Spivey Avenue, according to the report. Officers could not find any victims, but found several shell casings in the area.

Detectives were called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

It’s not the first shooting reported near Futrell Park in recent years. In February 2019, officers responded to the area after a report of shots fired. In 2017, a pregnant woman was shot and killed near the apartment complex.
