Two more Ocean Boulevard shooting suspects make first court appearance

Two more suspects in the Ocean Boulevard shooting will remain in jail after having bond denied.

Dennis Stewart, 20, and Antonio Brown Jr., 22, were in Myrtle Beach municipal court on Wednesday morning for bond hearing. Both men face several charges, including attempted murder, in connection to the shooting.

A judge denied bond on the attempted murder charges for both men.

The duo were among the seven people arrested in connection to the Sunday evening shooting. Rival gangs from Chesterfield County exchanged gunfire on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach around 7:15 p.m. Sunday. The shooting has garnered social media attention from across the country and was condemned by city leaders.

Myrtle Beach Police Che if Amy Prock said on Wednesday the incident put the community and tourists in danger.

“This is a reckless shooting and it put a lot of lives in danger,” Prock said.

Myrtle Beach police Detective Chris White said the two groups fired across Ocean Boulevard from each other. He noted a baby was almost shot in the crossfire.

Several people were injured in the shooting, though none of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening. A victim’s advocate said all the victims have been released from the hospital. One victim was shot in the shoulder, and another victim had a bullet graze her spine.

Brown said he has a newborn child he is trying to raise and when he learned he was wanted, he turned himself in.

“I know it’s a bad situation,” he said.

Brown said he didn’t mean for anything to happen and the woman who got shot was on his side of the street.

“I understand how bad this is, but I really just want to go home to my daughter,” he said.
