Girl wakes up to find 47-year-old sexually assaulting her, Horry County police say
A 47-year-old man faces decades in prison after police say he raped a teen in her Longs bedroom as she was sleeping.
The 14-year-old victim said the incident happened on Valentine’s Day, according to an Horry County police report. The victim told school officials about it a few days later.
The victim’s mother said Jerome M. Williams was in their Longs home on Feb. 14. The mother said Williams left that same day, but she did not check to see if the door was locked. The victim went to bed around 10 p.m., the report states.
The teen said she woke up in the middle of the night while Williams was sexually assaulting her, the report states.
When the victim realized what was happening, she told him to stop and kicked him in the thigh, according to the report. The teen ran to her mother’s room and told her what happened. When the mom went to confront Williams, he was standing at her door.
Horry County police charged Williams with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was booked in J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday and is being held without bond.
Williams faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
