Teen arrested in connection to Little River shooting, carjacking

A teenager faces decades in prison after police say he shot someone in the Little River area.

Horrry County police charged Trashawn Travon Hemingway, of Little River, with attempted murder, taking a motor vehicle from another person and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Thursday and remains incarcerated as bond has not been set in his case.

On Jan. 24, Horry County police went to Oscar Road near Jones Road for a reported shooting, according to a police report. The victim was shot in the neck and chest.

Police say Hemingway carjacked the 16-year-old victim, who was then shot multiple times.

The victim was on the phone with his mom when police arrived on Oscar Road. The 16-year-old went to the hospital.

Attempted murder, the most serious of Hemingway’s charges, is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
