He wanted his cellphone back, that’s when the suspect stabbed him, Horry County cops say
A woman stabbed a man during an argument over a cellphone, police say, and now she finds herself facing decades behind bars.
Horry County police arrested and charged Brittney Yvonne Bennett, 31, with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. She was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Wednesday and is being held on $10,000 bail. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
In late-December, Horry County police responded to a reported stabbing in the Conway area. The victim said Bennett stabbed him after she refused to give his phone back, according to a police report.
The two were arguing over stolen items and Bennett fled the scene with two cell phones, the report states.
Bennett’s arrest was the latest in a recent string of stabbing charges and knife incidents in the Myrtle Beach area during the past few days.
Myrtle Beach police charged Christian Reeves Martin, 27, with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime on Tuesday. He is accused of stabbing another person near Mr. Joe White Avenue.
Myrtle Beach police are also investigating a Thursday incident where a suspect is accused of brandishing a knife and making threats after the Ole’ Irish Pub on Withers Drive refused service. The bar claimed the man walked out on a previous tab.
City police also charged Patrick Braun with violating a protective order. Witnesses said they saw Braun in a domestic incident, and when one person intervened, Braun pulled a knife.
