Horry County homeowner fights off armed suspects in Conway area burglary

Two people forced their way into a Conway residence Saturday. While the homeowner was shot during the struggle, he did stab one of the suspects.
Now, police say they have arrested one person in connection to the home invasion and search for the second man.
Horry County police arrested Davonte Shepard, 27, of Conway, in connection to the incident. Officers charged him with attempted murder, two counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person, two counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.
Officers are searching for Quashean Malilque Phillips, 21, of Conway, and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 843-248-1520.
Police say the home invasion happened around 6:30 a.m. Phillips and Shepard forced their way into a Franks Lane home and got into a struggle with the homeowner.
The victim was shot in the leg, but stabbed a suspect with a pocket knife.
The suspects then broke into a neighboring home, where they assaulted two other people, police say.
As officers started to investigate the assault, Shepard showed up at a local hospital with a stab wound, according to Horry police. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Wednesday and is being held without bail.
The two suspects face life in prison if convicted of all charges.
