Men pull gun on Myrtle Beach cab driver, cops say
A taxi driver told Myrtle Beach police he sped away after two men pulled a gun on him late Wednesday night in an armed robbery attempt, according to an incident report.
Officers were called about 10:45 p.m. to the intersection of Yaupon Drive and 18th Avenue South for an attempted robbery report.
Police met with a 44-year-old taxi driver who told them he was sent to pick up two people in the area, but didn’t see anyone when he got there.
He drove around the block to look for them, and that’s when two men came up to his cab and pulled out a handgun, he told police.
The armed suspects told him to put his cab in park, but instead he sped away and called 911, the report states. He told police he believed the suspects were trying to take money from him.
Earlier that night, Myrtle Beach police arrested six suspects in a separate incident involving armed robbery, reported about 5 p.m. at an apartment complex on Osceola Street where it was reported that two men were armed with weapons, police said.
Officers on scene identified the suspects, who police said ran from a reportedly stolen car after being stopped by police, who caught them all, according to a release.
