Myrtle Beach police arrest four in reported armed robbery
Myrtle Beach police say they’ve located four suspects in a reported armed robbery investigation.
According to a prepared statement, officers were dispatched Wednesday evening to the Sandygate Village Apartments on Osceola Street in reference a report of an armed robbery. It was reported that two men were armed with weapons.
Police say they observed the suspects in a vehicle and attempted to stop it, but four suspects fled the scene on foot. Myrtle Beach police were able to detain all four suspects, they say.
Local resident Taylor Sargent said he arrived to a blocked entrance of the apartment complex and didn’t know what to make of the scene.
“I actually pulled in right when they had a guy pulled over in a white Jeep,” Sargent said. “I knew there was something going on because there were multiple (undercover police officers) coming in around the same time.
“I saw (a suspect) pulled over right around here and they pulled him out, and I guess they had arrested him and I saw some officers putting on gloves to search the car. I didn’t know what the case was, I thought maybe it was a (drug) bust of some kind.”
Another resident of the apartment complex said one of the suspects sought to hide in her home. “Cops came (to my home) with their guns drawn, and I had my grandkids in the living room,” said the woman, who did not want to be identified.
The identity of those arrested will be provided once police charge the suspects with a crime.
