Home invasion suspects, arrested out of state, brought back to Horry County
Two Tabor City men were jailed Thursday morning in Horry County in connection with a home invasion reported in Loris late last month, police said.
Dominique Hemingway, 24, is charged with armed robbery and kidnapping, police said. Tareek Hemingway, 22, is also charged with armed robbery and kidnapping, but faces additional charges of pointing and presenting firearms and possession of a weapon during a violate crime.
The pair was arrested last week in Columbus County, N.C., according to police, and were recently extradited back to Horry County, records show.
The charges stem from an incident reported on the night of Sept. 28 at a home on U.S. 701 in the Loris area. A 49-year-old woman said she was returning to her house after collecting about $360 in rent money when she spotted a shadowy figure in her carport, according to an Horry County police report.
The woman told police “a black male wearing dark clothes was attempting to get inside of her residence,” and when she went to push him out of her home “a second black male wearing dark clothes forced his way” inside, the report said.
One of the suspects put a gun to her head and demanded her cash, and another asked “where the food was at and if she had a husband,” according to the report.
One of the suspects also “slapped her on her buttocks and told her to tell her husband he had a nice wife and they would be watching her,” during the incident, the report stated.
The men ordered her to sit in chair for five minutes before leaving, police said.
