Myrtle Beach retiree hits $100,000 on $5 scratch-off while buying Powerball ticket
“I was stunned,” the winner said after a $5 scratch-off ticket yielded $100,000.
The Myrtle Beach retiree was planning to win a bigger jackpot when he went into the store to buy a Powerball ticket, but won $100,000 instead after a “Lucky 7” scratcher caught his eye at a Speedway gas station on Holmestown Road, according to a news release.
The “Lucky 7” scratcher proved to live up to its name for the winner, officials said, and the store received a $1,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
Two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Lucky 7 game, at odds of 1 in 432,000, according to a release.
