Incident with music stage happens at Little River Blue Crab Festival. What we know
An incident with a stage at a large Horry County festival happened Saturday morning.
The incident happened during the 44th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival in Little River, which began Saturday and ends Sunday.
Horry County Spokesperson Thomas Bell said by text that there was an incident with the music stage at the festival. There were no reported injuries.
However, Bell didn’t provide further details, directing questions to festival organizers.
Messages left with the Little River Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event, were not returned by publication.
The two-day festival is one of the largest in the area, reportedly drawing more than 50,000 attendees each year.
The festival is held in the historic fishing village, where local restaurants and vendors serve fresh seafood and visitors can enjoy live music, waterfront views and vendor shopping.
This is the second incident at a large event involving a stage.
A cheerleading competition being held in Myrtle Beach on May 3 was canceled after what appears to be a stage malfunction.
The F&T Championships, hosted by Flips & Trix Cheer Consultants out of Maryland, was set to take place at The Hangout at Broadway at the Beach. However, it has been reported that one person was injured when the stage where performances were to be held malfunctioned.
Capt. Jonathan Evans with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department said by text that it appears the stage malfunctioned prior to the event.
