World’s Strongest Man brings athletes, street closings to Myrtle Beach. What to know
Muscled athletes will once again roam Myrtle Beach as they prepare to showcase their feats of strength, from lifting small cars to throwing heavy objects.
The World’s Strongest Man compeition makes it return to the coastal city after last year’s absence.
The competition will be along the oceanfront at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place from Thursday, April 23, through Sunday. April 26.
Athletes from all over the world will gather to compete in different events for a chance to be crowned the World‘s Strongest Man.
The competition moved to Sacramento, California, in 2025, after having been in Myrtle Beach for two straight years. It announced earlier this year that it would return to Myrtle Beach in 2026.
Here’s what to know about the competition, road closures and other details:
- Those attending will be able to see several events, including the Hercules Hold, a fan favorite where athletes use chains to keep two 160-killigram pillars either side of them upright; keg toss and Atlas Stone.
- The city’s beachfront sand volleyball courts at the former Pavilion site will be closed through mid-to-late July because of a series of back-to-back events, including the World’s Strongest Man, according to a Facebook post from the city of Myrtle Beach.
- Ocean Boulevard, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North, will be closed during the World’s Strongest Man event, the post said.
- The competition will begin with qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday, with final competitions on Saturday and Sunday, where a champion will be crowned. Events are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. For more information or tickets, visit www.theworldsstrongestman.com.
