Two ‘80s hard rock icons coming to Conway this summer. Here’s how to see them

Two rock icon bands from the 1980s will headline this year’s Conway Riverfest.

Slaughter and Vixen will take the stage on June 27 for the free show. A time for the show was not listed on the website. However, last year’s performances started at 8 p.m.

The Riverfest event, which began in 1980, brings thousands to the city each year for several events and the live entertainment.

This summer’s entertainment lineup will include glam hard rock band Slaughter, which rose to fame in the late 1980s with such hits as “Up All Night” and “Fly to the Angels.” They will be joined by the all-female rock band Vixen, often dubbed “the female Bon Jovi,” and known for such hits as “Edge of a Broken Heart” and Cryin.”

Other events scheduled for the day include the Paddle Battle River Races beginning at 10 a.m.; Revolutionary War re-enactors provided by the Horry County Historical Society; a Kid Zone; the well-known and well-attended golf cart parade; cornhole tournament; food vendors; and a fireworks show that ends the day at 9:30 p.m.

Last year’s entertainment was the popular rock 1980s rock band Night Ranger, who turned out such chart toppers as “Sister Christian.”
