Wildfire near Horry County grows to 1,750 acres. How it is affecting area
A wildfire that started along the Horry/Marion county line has spread from 200 acres to 1,750 acres.
The fire, which was 100% contained, is now only 60% contained as of 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to the South Carolina Forestry Commission’s live wildfire page.
National Weather Service Warning Coordinator Meteorologist Brandon Locklear said since its so dry, there is just enough wind to let fires get out of control.
Residents in Horry County are still seeing smoke come into the area, and will continue to see smoke and ash throughout the week.
