Horry County Fire Rescue reports that a wildfire near the Horry County line is causing smoke to infiltrate the county, especially in the Conway, SC, area.

Residents near the Horry County line have experienced smoky conditions over the weekend and Monday morning.

The smoke is coming from a now contained 200-acre wildfire near the Horry/Marion county line, according to a Facebook post from Horry County Fire Rescue. The smoke is being carried all across Horry County, especially in the Conway area, and residents can expect to see such smoky conditions throughout the week, the post said.

The post said that a column of smoke from the Marion County fire can be seen directly across the Little Pee Dee River from Horry County’s Punch Bowl Landing.

Horry County 911 took and processed dozens of smoke investigation calls Monday morning, sending Horry County Fire Rescue crews to handle, essentially all the result of smoke produced by this Marion County fire.

There is currently a burn ban for the unincorporated areas of Horry County.

Crews are monitoring the smoke, the post said. However, the department is urging people to call 911 if they see actual flames.
