New waterfront restaurant opens in Murrells Inlet. It has all-day happy hour

A new waterfront restaurant in Murrells Inlet has opened – taking over the Mexican dining space that had been there for a little more than a year.

Inlet Shipwreck Bar and Grill began serving customers on Feb. 25, focusing more on casual seafood and comfort food.

Ishan Patel, a manager of the restaurant, said the previous restaurant wasn’t working out, so the owners decided to shift gears, creating the pirate-themed eatery.

“This is the inlet,” Patel said. “(Customers) know what they want (to eat).”

Sloppy Jose’s Cantina opened in 2024, serving Mexican and Caribbean-style food. It closed earlier this year to make way for Inlet Shipwreck. The cantina had taken over the former Neptune’s Bistro and Raw Bar building at 4139 U.S. 17 Business.

Sloppy Jose’s was a collaboration between owners of Neal and Pam’s and El Cerro Grande.

However, one of the original partners has since stepped away from the new concept, Patel said. The owner of Wicked Tuna, located next door, is also among the partners, Patel said.

The new space will include the pirate ship playground that’s already on the property. The menu, which is limited right now until new menus come in, includes seafood, salads, burgers, sandwiches and such entrees as BBQ ribs, pork chop and seafood platters.

It also offers an all-day happy hour with $4 beer, wines and Pirate Punch made with Admiral White Rum, Admiral Coconut Rum, Admiral Spiced Rum, pineapple juice and topped with Grenadine.
