Popular Myrtle Beach area restaurants to combine forces, open new spot at the Marsh Walk

Coming soon to the Marsh Walk is a new Mexican and Caribbean-style restaurant being run by two Myrtle Beach-area restaurant institutions.

Neal and Pam’s in Surfside announced on social media it is teaming up with El Cerro Grande to open Sloppy Jose’s Cantina and Seafood Grill in the former Neptune’s Bistro and Raw Bar building, 4139 U.S. 17 Business.

It’s unclear when or why Neptune’s closed but the restaurant’s Facebook and Instagram have been taken down and a call to the restaurant was not answered. The Sun News was also unable to get comments from Neal and Pam’s and El Cerro Grande before publication.

Neal and Pam’s said the pair will take a few months to revamp the restaurant space and make it ready to become Sloppy Jose’s. They do not yet have an opening date.

The new space will include the pirate ship playground that’s already on the property. The menu will include seafood, typical Mexican food and small plates.

“We will be customer service, family and community driven, offer great food and creative drinks at reasonable prices with unique entertainment,” said Neal and Pam’s in a social media post.

Neal and Pam’s has been around since 1985 as a bar and grill run by a husband and wife. In 2011, the business was passed down to their son Zach Stapleton. More recently, the restaurant opened another location called Neal’s Creekhouse in Murrells Inlet.

El Cerro Grande first opened in North Myrtle Beach in 1991 and has expanded to eight locations in Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown. The owners wanted to bring family-friendly Mexican food to the Grand Strand.
