Conway’s ‘McDonald’s girl’ gets ‘American Idol’ ticket. She’s 2nd local contestant
A singer originally from Conway is competing for national stardom on the popular competition show “American Idol.”
Cecily Hennigan, 23, is a singer-songwriter from Conway who currently lived in Nashville. She received her golden ticket to Hollywood during “American Idol’s” audition round, according to a social media post, but her audition was one of many that the show didn’t air. But during “Hollywood Week,” which begins airing on Monday, Feb. 23, the local star will take the stage once more to compete against other singers, including another from the Myrtle Beach area.
A message to ABC was not immediately returned.
Hennigan performed her original song, “Start from Scratch,” during her audition, earning her a space in the next round, according to her post.
Alongside her, another area local was also offered passage to Hollywood Week. Isaiah Moro of Myrtle Beach could be seen on televisions nationwide, impressing judges with his gravelly rock star voice and earning his own golden ticket. The 20-year-old singer has also garnered attention on social media for his covers at local karaoke nights.
Hennigan is no stranger to social media fame either. In fact, this isn’t the first time she’ll be using her musical prowess to compete on TV either. At 16 years old, Hennigan quickly secured a space on The Voice during blind auditions. Before that, she appeared on TV with Steve Harvey after a video of her singing her way through a McDonald’s drive through went viral.
