A man’s mysterious death in the Forestbrook community is being investigated after the victim refused medical attention following a motorcycle crash.

Horry County Police responded to Pilot House Court in Forestbrook on Saturday to assist emergency services with resuscitation efforts on the crash victim at a residence, according to the incident report. The man was soon pronounced dead at the residence. It’s unclear how he died or what transpired before he died.

A person familiar with the victim told authorities the man had been involved in a crash while on a motorcycle without a helmet the day before. He suffered a head injury in the crash. The victim reportedly refused medical attention after the wreck. Authorities later discovered that the motorcycle wreck actually took place on Thursday, and the man went to work the following day.

The person also shared that a friend of the victim arrived at the residence in the early morning. When the friend arrived, the person noticed that the victim’s behavior changed, “and she noticed that his eyes looked different,” according to the report.

While speaking to the person familiar with the victim in the kitchen of the residence, police found a white powdery substance in a plastic bag. The person said was cocaine. The drug, as well as a bag of needles and the victim’s cell phone were collected as evidence.

The case remains active pending further investigation. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been released.
