Hoping to be Christmas billionaire? Myrtle Beach area stores with most Powerball wins

Lottery players are hoping to wake up Christmas morning a billionaire as the drawing for the Powerball happens Wednesday, Christmas Eve.

The jackpot has grown to $1.7 billion after no winners were selected in Monday night’s drawing, making it the fourth-largest pool in Powerball history.

The Powerball jackpot has been won only once on Christmas Eve in 2011, and four times on Christmas Day (1996, 2002, 2010 and 2013), according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

And while the odds of matching the first five ball numbers and the Powerball are slim – 1 in 913,129 – there’s no harm in hoping for a little holiday luck.

The Myrtle Beach area has seen its share of big Powerball winners over the last 10 years. And if you haven’t already bought your ticket, maybe these stores will offer greater chances of winning.

Here are the locations of the five biggest Powerball wins in the Myrtle Beach area since 2015, according to state lottery officials:

– Kroger at 3735 Renee Drive in Myrtle Beach area sold a $1 million Powerball ticket in 2022.

– Gator’s Liquor at 1818 US 17 Business in Surfside Beach sold a $1 million Powerball ticket in 2021.

– Food Lion at 9380 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island sold a $1 million Powerball ticket in 2017.

– Scotchman No. 3225 at 4101 Postal Way in Carolina Forest in the Myrtle Beach area sold a $1 million Powerball ticket in 2015.
